Once vast clay pits providing clay to Shropshire brick makers, the two largest pools that are at the heart of Wigmore Lakes have been stocked with fish for well over 50 years.

The farm itself is a large mixed farm consisting of free range laying hens, cattle and sheep and has been in the Stokes family for more than 100 years.

In 2012 the development of the lakes from a fishery to holiday park began and now runs as a successful holiday park with a touring site and on site fishing.
